Construction of a permanent traditional sauna requires special tools, plumbing and electrical work. Also, a knowledgeable contractor may have to be hired to construct the sauna making it even more expensive.

Energy Efficient: Infrared saunas heat up quickly, in about 30 minutes and use as much power as a hair dryer. Traditional saunas require a longer heat up time, about one hour and substantially more electricity to keep the rocks extremely hot.

Cleanliness/Maintenance: Infrared saunas generate dry heat which keeps the cabin free from moisture induced mold and mildew requiring minimal maintenance. Traditional saunas are wet with high humidity creating an environment promoting the growth of mold and mildew.
